Toronto YouTubers You Should Watch

Earlier
this week YouTube unveiled their Toronto YouTube space, located in George Brown
College School of Design near Richmond and Sherbourne. YouTube had all of the
city’s most popular YouTubers like Lilly Singh, Mathew Santoro and Lauren
Riihimaki in attendance to open the space.

This
will be the 9th YouTube creative space in the world; with the others
in Paris, Mumbai, Berlin, Sao Paulo, New York, Tokyo, London and Los Angeles.
Being amongst a few, this new space confirms what Torontonians knew for a long
time, that we have top notch content creators!

That
is why we decided to share with you a few Toronto YouTubers you should watch!

iiSuperwomanii

Yes
we know she is one of the most popular YouTubers in the world, but we couldn’t
keep her away from this list. Lilly Singh started uploading videos to cope with
depression she experienced during university. She uses her culture and love for
pop culture to create comedy that makes others laugh. She is also an advocate
for women empowerment, through her campaign Girl Love, so it’s hard not to fall
in love with her!

Rachel David

Rachel
is a former TV personality that made the venture to YouTube almost a year ago.
With years of TV under her belt, she definitely knows how to entertain. On her
channel she invites influential people, like NBA’s Delon Wright, for challenges
and games. She also vlogs about her amazing adventures inside industry events!

Bianca Harris

Bianca
joined YouTube in 2013 and brings her viewer’s professional make up tips and
tutorials. She was introduced to the art of make up at a young age when she
would perform as a dancer. Her passion for the art inspired her to study it in
college and pursue it as a career. She has worked professionally as a makeup
artist with CTV, MMVAs, Diesel and E! Canada.

Lauren Toyota in Real Life

Many
recognize Lauren from her Much Music VJ days, where she interviewed the biggest
stars in the music industry. Luckily for us, Lauren ventured onto YouTube where
she talks about veganism, meditation, food and so much more. She sets to inspire
her viewers to follow their dreams and be fearless. You can also check her out
on her other channel Hot
for Food
!

ModernDayShivalry

Shivani,
a talented photographer and beauty guru, started her YouTube channel in 2013.
Many of her videos feature beauty tutorials and skin care routines. Her channel
sky rocketed 6 months ago when she uploaded her Kylie Jenner Transformation
video, having her made over into the youngest Kardashian. The video went viral
and gathered over 2 million views!

ASAP Science

Up
there with iiSuperwomanii on the popularity scale are the guys from ASAP
Science. Created by Mitchell Moffit and Gregory Brown in 2012, the channel touches
on many debates and random facts that happen to do with science. Want to know
the science behind bacon or if birds can actually deliver messages, well look
no further these guys can clue you in!

5 Tips to Watching a Raptors Game

Fresh off the heels of last night’s win, Toronto Raptors fans are excited about game 4. Here at VOCAB we are huge Raptors fans so we thought we’d share with you tips to make watching the game a better experience. The Raptors face off against the Indiana Pacers today at 3pm and with these 5 quick and easy tips you will be ready to cheer for Lowry in no time!

1. Surround yourself with like minded people

Watching basketball is fun on its own, with the best of the best pulling out all the stops to make their cities proud, but it can be even more fun. Watching the game with your friends and other fans will amp up your energy and make the experience better. One of the best places to watch the game is in Jurassic Park, otherwise known as Maple Leaf Square. Fans flock there every playoff game and although some there may not understand why you prefer Kyle Lowry over Demar DeRozan, or vice-versa; everyone can agree the Raptors are in it to win it!!

2. Show off your Raptors spirit

Similar to why you need to watch Raptors games with fellow fans, you need to show your raptors guide. You can’t feel the excitement of the game if you’re not covered in team spirit, right? Whether you are wearing your Jonas Valanciunas jersey, OVO Raptors gear or even dusting off your retro Vince Carter jersey you know everyone you see will appreciate it. Don’t worry if you don’t have any Raptors gear because wearing the red and black is great too!

3. Watch on a big screen…or many screens

As a Raptor fan it’s important that you’re catching every minute of the game and the best way to do that is to watch the game on the biggest screen possible. It is our duty as Raptor fans to be able to point out if the referees made a bad call, right? Having a big screen, or many screens, helps you point out any fouls the referee might have missed. It also eliminates anyone blocking your view. One of the best spots in the city for a ‘big screen’ or ‘many screen’ experience is The Real Sports Bar. Just get there early it may be crowded with fans like you!

4. Indulge a lot

Nothing says basketball than indulging in the best finger foods out there. Having a nachos and wings as an appetizer, main dish and dessert are the only ways to eat dinner while watching the game!

5. Plan ahead

Whether you are watching the game out at bar or in inviting friends to watch in the comfort of your home, it is very important to plan your night right. Organize designated drivers, a taxi or even have your family and friends sleepover. Make sure that you and your friends are able to safely have fun watching the game.
